Laila

Esa-Pekka Salonen – Paula Vesala – Tuomas Norvio – Ekho Collective:

Iconic opera heroines like Aida or Salome are joined by a new kind of diva among their ranks. Laila invites us to create the world of the future together with artificial intelligence, challenging us to face the hopes and fears that technology and the unknown tomorrow bring. This new, interactive work created by Esa-Pekka Salonen, Paula Vesala, Tuomas Norvio and the Ekho Collective for the Finnish National Opera does away with traditional roles. In Laila, you are not the audience; you are a participant in the creation of a new reality. Laila is a unique experience that is different every time. The work is part of the Opera Beyond expedition by the Finnish National Opera and Ballet, combining arts and the latest technology. Read more at: oopperabaletti.fi/laila
