Helsinki Fest: Sunday

Nine hours of classical and jazz

Helsinki Festival cannot be organised this summer, but a new multi-artistic event will bring art to the courtyards and streets as well as the internet, radio and television during August. The Helsinki Fest weekend will be celebrated on 21–23 August, and it will be realised in co-operation with partners and freelance artists.

The weekend ends with a long classical music and jazz concert special on Sunday, 23 August – with concerts from top Finnish freelance musicians for up to nine hours.

The performances include, for example, minimalist cult classics such as John Adams’ Shaker Loops and Steve Reich’s Electric Counterpoint, Amy Beach’s sparkling and strong Piano Quintet, fresh interpretations of classic Schubert and Bach compositions, world-class jazz and discussions.

The performers include, for example, Aki Rissanen Trio, defunensemble, Awake Percussion, Nihkee Akka, Helmikvintet, Lauri Supponen & Saxtronauts, Tölöläb & Elifantree, Jukka Perko & Senja Rummukainen and Marzi Nyman as well as the curators of the programme, Eriikka Maalismaa, Antti Tikkanen and Minna Pensola.

The entire programme and timetable will be published later.

The concert will be broadcast live on YLE channels and this page.
